Congrats to Homer the Dragon and everyone at the Charlotte Knights! According to a tweet by @KnightsBaseball, Homer the Dragon set a new world record for most hugs by a mascot in 24 hours with 5,615 hugs! That’s pretty intense.
In addition to setting a world record, Homer the Dragon was also looking to support a few local charities. The event, called “Homer Hugs for Hope,” suggested a $1 donation per hug. All donation proceeds from the hugs would be going to support local charities. According to press release the Knights were “hoping to raise $8,000 to be distributed to the following charities: local schools, Community Blood Center of the Carolinas, and the Disaster Relief Initiative.”
